Sanding the rough primer spray

//Sanding the rough primer spray
Unfortunately the layers of primer I sprayed laid down terrible. The surface was quite rough and took a lot of work.
I’m not sure the reason behind this but maybe one of the below or a little bit of all:
  • The primer was 15 years old but the consistency seemed fine and wanted to use it up
  • I used an old conventional spray gun. Perhaps I didn’t adjust it correctly either
  • I’m a newbie to painting / priming so that could be part of the reason
  • it was also a little hot and humid in the inflatable paint booth I used
The primer used was old that we had laying around called Nason Urethane Primer 421-19. It was a 2K Urethane type Primer which included an activator. Overall it seemed like good and durable stuff but this was 15 years old so I probably should not have used it.

I believe I sprayed 3 coats so it was not fun sanding this thick stuff. It took quite a bit of time and I used a course grit sandpaper to help me.
