Drilling holes for quarter panel Louver ornaments and various body putty patches

//Drilling holes for quarter panel Louver ornaments and various body putty patches
One of the new quarter panels that I welded on to replace the original rusty panel did not have holes for the louver ornaments (or whatever folks call them – gill accents).I first tried placing the ornaments up near the indentation spots in the quarter panel and scratching the mark where the hole needed to be drilled.

Then I was concerned that might not be precise enough so I double checked by using calipers and using the measurement from the other quarter panels . I wanted to insure the hole was drilled precisely vertically and horizontally so the ornament fit in the groove correctly the first time .

I used a center punch to guide the drill bit and drilled it perpendicularly to the flat edge.

Then I started finding less noticeable dings around the car (hood, front quarter panel, and front fender) by adding my body putty and sanding them smooth.
