68′ Firebird project

I ordered a full weatherstripping kit and installed these around the windows, doors and trunk. This took a lot longer than I would have expected. I applied a little bit of adhesive to help hold it onto the car and pushed the weatherstripping into the grooves with a dull flat headed screwdriver .

The driver side fender was original but the since the passenger side fender was replaced with a new aftermarket , it did not have the emblem holes pre-drilled. Some people will not like the idea of installing a rear spoiler on the 68 firebird because they didn’t produce them at the factory but in my opinion there isn’t enough character in the rear without a spoiler. Today I finished sanding and buffing the whole car. Pictures are below. I over buffed some areas so be sure to not overdo it. Using a paint thickness gauge would probably be a good idea.

Today I painted missed spots around the car and small touch up spots. The hood and engine was covered and masked. I gave the areas in between the hood and fender a quick sand and sprayed these with a smaller spray gun.

Finally-- I got around to painting the car today. I sprayed it with a sealer first, as shown in the below photos. The sealer seemed to spray nicely. I don’t know what I was thinking with the Grey sealer color selection though since it should match closer to the final base coat color which is a metallic gunmetal grey. I [...]
