Start of the 68′ Firebird Project

So I decided to start this blog to document and share updated of my 68′ Firebird project. It has taken some years to get the restoration up and running, but I recently have been putting more time into it.

We bought the Firebird for about 5,000 dollars and drove it home. Some details about it:

  • It had about 65,000 original miles on it.
  • Engine is a 350.
  • Had a two barrel carburetor and we quickly replaced with a four barrel carb and intake manifold.
  • Had a two speed automatic PowerGlide transmission.

My 1968 Pontiac Firebird from the start.

The first few things we had to do was replace the tires, brakes, fuel & and coolant hoses. Other than that it was fully drivable from the get go. You can see an earlier photo above.

It definitely needed a lot of work to make it perform better and look better. So stayed tuned to all my blog posts describing the things we did and some tips that I suggest on the 68′ Firebird Project page. I’ll include photos of each step of the process. If anyone has questions, please leave a comment below.
